Ingredients

  • 4 slices Whole grain bread, soft and fresh
  • 4 tbsp Sunflower seed butter, creamy or crunchy
  • 4 tbsp Jam or jelly (strawberry, grape, or your favorite)
  • 1 medium Apple, sliced (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 2 oz Cheese, cut into cubes (cheddar, mozzarella, or Colby)
  • 8 to 10 crackers Whole grain crackers

Instructions

  1. Lay out 4 slices whole grain bread on a clean cutting board.
  2. Spread 2 tbsp sunflower seed butter evenly across two slices of the bread, going all the way to the edges so every bite has flavor.
  3. Spread 2 tbsp jam or jelly on the other two slices, matching the coverage.
  4. Press the sunflower butter slices and jam slices together gently to form two sandwiches.
  5. Using a sharp knife, trim the crusts if you like, then cut each sandwich into four squares or two triangles.
  6. Slice 1 medium apple into thin wedges or rounds, discarding the core.
  7. Cut 2 oz cheese into bite-sized cubes.
  8. Pack the sandwich squares in a lunchbox or on a plate alongside the apple slices, cheese cubes, and 8 to 10 whole grain crackers.
