Ingredients
- 2 medium Carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 8 oz Ground lamb
- 2 tbsp Water (for cooking the lamb)
Instructions
- Peel 2 medium carrots and cut them into 1-inch chunks.
- Fill a medium saucepan with about 1 inch of water and bring it to a boil over high heat. Place a steamer basket or insert in the pan. Add the carrot chunks, cover, and steam for 15 minutes, until the carrots are completely tender and easily pierced with a fork.
- While the carrots steam, heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add 8 oz ground lamb and 2 tbsp water. Break the lamb into small crumbles with a wooden spoon or spatula. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lamb is fully cooked through with no pink remaining and the water has evaporated. The lamb should look crumbly and moist, not dry.
- Once the carrots are tender, transfer them to a mixing bowl. Add the cooked lamb to the bowl.
- Use a potato masher or fork to mash the carrots and lamb together until you reach your desired consistency. For younger babies, mash until very smooth. For older toddlers, a slightly chunkier texture is fine. If the mash seems too thick, stir in a teaspoon or two of the steaming water to loosen it.
- Let the mash cool to a safe temperature before serving. Test a small spoonful on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot.
